Berklee College of Music's leanest, meanest, and sexiest all-male a cappella group.

Do you has?

We'll be looking for new Charlies in the FALL 2014 semester! Check back soon to see when and where we'll be holding auditions!

Here's what we're looking for in our auditionees:

  1. You must be swift as a coursing river
  2. With all the force of a great typhoon
  3. With all the strength of a raging fire
  4. Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
  5. Be a man
  6. Who goes to Berklee
  7. And can sing

Is this group hard to get into?
Since we are a 12-14 member group, spaces are limited, but we highly encourage anybody and everybody to try out. (Especially first tenors... *cough*)

What sets you guys apart from the other a cappella groups on campus?
There are currently four main a cappella groups at Berklee. Pitch Slapped and Introflection are both auditioned and co-ed (SATB), and sing different styles of music. (Introflection does vocal jazz, Pitch Slapped does pop.) Us and The Y Chromotones are both all-male (TTBB), but The Y Chromotones are unauditioned, and therefore the group size is generally larger, and their style is slightly more "choral".

What will the audition be like?
Another great question! We'll want to hear a verse and a chorus of any contemporary pop/rock/R&B/etc. song. Pick something that really shows off your voice! Are you an individual who beats the box, as the youth say? Mention it, and we'll have you drop your sickest beat. Then, we'll test your range, hear you sing with the group, ask you some questions, and send you on your merry way. You'll hear if you made it in within 24-48 hours.

What are rehearsals like?
Fun is what they're like, I tell ya what.
In all seriousness, they're fun, but a lot of work. We rehearse two times a week in the 130/136 Mass Ave building. If needed, we'll have sectionals, led by the President and Music Director. We'll have additional rehearsals leading up to shows or competitions. While we do ask for a big committment from all members, we will not force you to miss a class or anything like that to go to a rehearsal or gig.
